Medical School Anaesthesia Societies

Anaesthesia Medical societies are set up by medical students within their medical schools around the UK.  Many are still in the early stages of establishment and others have been around for some years. The activities within the groups may vary and differ to other medical societies however they all have a general goal of raising awareness of anaesthesia and critical care, and to provide opportunity for its members to demonstrate their interest in these medical specialties.

Activities of the anaesthesia and critical care societies include:

  • career events
  • mentoring schemes, and
  • revision talks and lectures.

The RCoA can offer support to medical societies by arranging for a Consultant guest speaker to deliver a presentation at Career Talks, providing material for careers fairs and providing advice on the specialty when required.

The table below lists the known medical school anaesthesia societies/associations and their contact details. For further information, please contact the society/association directly.
