Schools of Anaesthesia

Anaesthesia training across the UK is provided by Schools of Anaesthesia which are linked to specific Postgraduate Medical Education Deaneries. Trainees are recruited to a School and will rotate amongst the hospitals (called Local Education providers or LEPs) assigned to the School for their training. The training programme is quite diverse and trainees will spend some time in district general hospitals, large teaching hospitals and tertiary referral centres. The aim is to provide all anaesthesia trainees with broad based training to meet the challenges as a consultant in the NHS.
